Definition of Health

The Partnership defines health in its broadest sense. Health is not simply the absence of disease. It is a state of well-being including healthy behavior, quality education, public safety, environmental protection, economic opportunity, and other factors that affect the quality of life.

A healthy Bergen County in the year 2010 will embody a culture of respect, caring, and shared responsibility, creating a sense of community among individuals as well as businesses, educational and religious institutions, community organizations and government. We will be a community keenly aware of the complexities of modern life and will strive to achieve a perspective that will enrich life and reduce stress. Our community will be family-centered and value a clean environment and open spaces balanced with sound economic development. We are committed to supporting collaboration among organizations to assure positive health outcomes for the long-term public interest and to optimize resources.
